T's BBQ: "Creating award winning BBQ doesn't happen by accident"
Tony Valentine, owner of T's BBQ, is a testimony to what happens when you do your homework.
Tony is a member of the Kansas City BBQ Society and for more than 7 years entered BBQ competitions going from a novice to winning cash prizes and awards for his perfected recipes. Tony's competition trailer (pictured) became a familiar sight at all competitions in the heart of BBQ country.
Most people would stop there, but Tony wanted his BBQ to be the very best. He went on to become a Certified BBQ Judge and is now qualified to not only create his own award winning BBQ, but to judge the quality of others. The certification plaque hangs proudly on the wall of his restaurant.
When Tony and his business partner, Todd Knight, decided to open their own BBQ restaurant they leased a building that had been vacant for more than 7 years. They completely remodeled it with the help of some friends, and since opening in May 2014, starting at zero has grown to cooking over 400 pounds of BBQ every day for their dine-in, carry-out and catering customers.
